Rasheed is a leading Food Safety expert with proven global experience in projects located in the USA, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. Over 40 years of experience in implementing food safety programs, training and certification of Environmental Health Officers, and food handlers. Expertise in designing food facilities according to GMP, sanitary practices and HACCP compliance. Rasheed has a track record of auditing and approving food facilities according to GMP design and industry best practice. Speaker at International conferences and conducting workshops in food safety concepts. Mr. Rasheed Ahmed is the recipient of the prestigious NSF International Food Safety Leadership Award in 2007.
Graduated with master’s degree from Gannon University in USA, an Advanced Diploma in Public Health Inspection from Ryerson University in Canada and Certified by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors. Rasheed is also a Certified Diplomat by the prestigious American Academy of Sanitarians USA and a Certified Trainer assigned to Saudi Arabia by NEHA (National Environmental Health Association), USA. Moreover, Rasheed is a Certified Trainer with NSF International and a Certified Tutor by HIGHFIELD Middle East.
Rasheed worked for City of Toronto in Canada from 1977 to 1986. In addition to communicable disease control and food safety implementation, he was assigned to train student EHO’s from Ryerson University. He authored the Environmental Health Officer’s Training Manual; conducted food safety seminars at hospitals, food premises, industrial food catering establishments and in the community.
From 1987 and until 2016 he was employed by the Royal Commission Saudi Arabia / BECHTEL as an Environmental Health Specialist. Under his leadership, along with establishing an excellent Environmental Health Program, he led the team of Health Professionals in establishing an award-winning food safety program in Jubail Industrial City. In 2010 the Royal Commission in Jubail received the NSF International Food Safety Leadership Award.
In April 2002 he established the first Food Handlers Training Center in Saudi Arabia. The Center continues to serve as a nucleus for the training of food handlers and conducts comprehensive food safety awareness programs in Jubail Industrial City and other communities in the region.
Mr. Ahmed was instrumental in establishing the Middle East Chapter in the International Federation of Environmental Health (www.ifeh.org). He was assigned as Middle East Coordinator to promote IFEH in the Middle East Region.
He was appointed as a coordinator by the Royal Commission during the Gulf War to assist multinational forces and Kuwaiti refugees stationed in Jubail Industrial City to assure food safety. He received special recognition with CITATION by the U.S Armed Forces Medical Division for rendering assistance in averting a major food borne illness at the military outpost VAT CAN food operations based in the Eastern Province.
After the major fire during Hajj in April 1997, the HAJJ Committee through Umm-Ul Quora University had organized a conference in 1998 with focus on Safety during Hajj. Mr. Rasheed Ahmed’s presentation titled “Food Safety for Masses” with guidelines for implementing food safety during Hajj was recognized and highly appreciated.
